Subwoofer
This is the major experimentation phase of the project. I originally wanted to fire the
woofer through the ski-hatch opening into the passenger cabin. After trying this I found I
didn't like it as the sound was somewhat directed towards my hears and blended with the
lower frequencies from the front speaker pairs. This caused a reduction in imaging from
the front pairs. Bob Hazelwood remarked that it could be because the P840 has a 12
db/octave curve, while the P2110 has a 24 db/octive curve. His system has the woofer
firing through the ski-hatch and he does not have the imaging problem I do. So, I'm
currently using the Q-Logic box and move it around in the trunk to experiment with
position. The biggest problem here is the soundproofing in the trunk. It is so damn good
that you really need to crank up the sub to hear it in the passenger cabin.
